I specialize in live painting and speed portraits. Have a party you want to remember? I will joyfully live paint the event or host a portrait booth for your guests.

I offer $5-5-minute portraits at festivals because paintings shouldn’t be reserved for presidents and rich people.

Portrait Booth

I'll paint portraits of guests who attend your—wedding, birthday party, retirement party, potluck, family reunion. They will take home a unique handmade piece of art to remember the day.

I show up with a bag of paint, cardboard panels, and 2 chairs. When the guest sits down, I set a timer for 5 minutes and start painting. We never know exactly how one will turn out until the timer stops. I often paint groups of friends or couples.

Live Painting

I will paint your event in real time. It won’t be a photorealistic rendition (that's what photographers are for.) It will capture the feeling of the moment in cheerful colors. You will recognize your guests and smile as you remember the happy day. We can meet to discuss what elements you want me to focus on and what size canvas you'd like.

Will you paint my portrait outside of an event?

I'd love to. We can meet at a park or coffeeshop and I'll paint you. But, unless you can get a group of people together to all do 5-minute portraits, I'll want to spend longer on your portrait and charge more than $5. (Probably $60 for 1 hour, but I'm negotiable if you can't afford that.) Email me and we can discuss.

Will you be at [insert event here]?

I paint at festivals around Baltimore. I've done a few with Hampden Highlights, Space Telescope, Hampden Bizaar, and Small Doll Productions. If you are organizing a public event, I would love to set up a $5-5-min booth there. However, if it costs a lot to have a booth I can't do it because I will lose money. (I want to keep prices low for the people!) If you're planning a market that is free of cheap for vendors, or you want me to paint portraits at your popular business hit me up!

How far will you travel to paint at an event?

I primarily work in Baltimore/DC region. I am open to travelling within a couple hours but it depends where. Send me an email and we can discuss.

Where did you learn to paint?

I've been painting since I was a kid. As a teenager I crammed in as many art classes as I could. I was accepted into a highschool program at Cooper Union back when it was free to attend. I once took a painting class from Attila Hejja who learned to paint from Norman Rockwell. I studied Medical Illustration at RIT where I drew from cadaver dissections and live surgeries. I am classically trained, and can draw highly detailed and realistically—but that's no fun. I've realized why I love painting is being in flow and reacting to what's in front of me with colors and brushstrokes.

What is your favorite thing to paint?

Human faces!

What materials do you use?

I paint with acrylic paint. For the 5-minute portraits I often paint on found, recycled surfaces like cardboard or paper. For larger pieces I prefer stretched canvas.

Where's the coolest place you've painted?

In November 2021 I participated in the Arctic Circle Residency painting ice portraits on a sailboat in Svalbard. (haha, cool-get it?) I hope to do more residencies in the future!
